Lea Goldstone brings an uncommon vantage point to family law: she learned it from the bench. As a law clerk for Colorado’s 20th Judicial District Court, Lea drafted final orders in domestic relations cases on behalf of the court. She classified marital assets, calculated child support and maintenance under the statutory guidelines, and designed step-up parenting schedules that were creative, realistic, and built to work for the families living under them.

That experience shapes how Lea works with clients. Having watched family cases unfold from the judge’s side, she understands what courts look for and which disputes are worth the time and expense of a fight. Her clients get a clear, honest read on where they stand, along with a practical plan for getting where they want to go.

Lea brings real skill to both the negotiating table and the courtroom. In law school, she was named Top Individual Mediator at the INADR International Law School Mediation Tournament. During her clerkship, she served as the court’s sworn bailiff for felony jury trials, giving her a working knowledge of the courtroom from the inside.

Lea’s legal training spans courts in three states. Before her Colorado clerkship, she served as a judicial extern in the Chancery Division of the Cook County Circuit Court in Chicago, researching and drafting memoranda on emergency motions for temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions. She also worked at the Hennepin County District Court in Minneapolis, where she was promoted from judicial extern to law clerk, and clerked at the Chicago litigation firm Corboy & Demetrio, P.C.

Lea earned her law degree from Loyola University Chicago School of Law. There she received CALI Excellence for the Future Awards, given for the highest grade in a course, in both Mediation Advocacy and the Law of Jury Selection. She also served as 1L Representative of the International Law Society. She earned her undergraduate degree in History from the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
