Happy St. Patrick’s Day

March 17, 2016 News

Today is that special day when everyone feels “Irish” for 24 hours. Green is everywhere, including the famous green dye that the city of Chicago traditionally dumps in the Chicago River. It is a good day to go out and have a green beer or some good Irish Whiskey with friends after work, or have a great Reuben sandwich with cabbage. Everyone seems to be happy and really enjoys this holiday whether Irish or not.

However, with all the good time celebrations comes problems, and we all know what they can be; drinking too much, flirting in a bar with other patrons, getting in a car and driving home drunk, when you shouldn’t be driving at all. When there is too much alcohol involved, bad things happen, from simply feeling sick the next day from having too much to drink, to elevated levels of domestic violence, adultery, getting arrested for drunken driving, or worse, perhaps being in a serious car accident while under the influence and injuring another or causing someone to lose their life.

What is the purpose of this blog? To act and drink responsibly. There is nothing wrong with going out and having fun with family and friends today in celebration of St. Patrick’s day, but do so modestly and make it an early evening. Drink at home if you want to celebrate. Don’t drink too much, don’t flirt with other women (or men) if you married or in a committed relationship and please don’t get behind the wheel and drive home if you have had too much to drink. Let’s make this a safe and annual event, both for your sake and for mine! May Irish eyes smile on you today and each day!
