Buckle up and be safe
It is hard to believe but we are on top of the Memorial Day weekend. Where did the year go so far? We really haven’t had that nice of a spring, but here we are, the first major holiday as we near towards the summer months. This means that there will be an abundance of motorists on the road traveling to visit friends and family this weekend. With gas prices down, this will increase even more, the number of travelers on the road.
A couple of quick things to keep in mind this weekend; 1. Buckle up. Put on your seat belt and shoulder harness and make sure all occupants in your car do the same. Lives can be saved by wearing your seat belt. There is no good reason not to. 2. Don’t drink and drive. Be responsible. There is nothing wrong with having a glass of wine or beer outside this weekend while you enjoy your family barbecue or picnic, but when you get behind the wheel, it is an entirely different matter. It is very simple; just don’t drink and drive. Have someone as the designated driver if everyone else is going to be drinking.
If you have been following local media reports either on television or on radio, law enforcement will be beefed up this holiday weekend and out in force, specifically to look for motorist who may be driving under the influence or to ticket those drivers who fail to wear their seat belt. Don’t get ticketed; Don’t get arrested; Don’t get into an accident; Don’t do something stupid.
Enjoy the weekend with your family and friends on whatever you may be doing this weekend. Buckle up and be safe!
